GBRacing: Yamaha’s CP2-engined models have proved incredibly popular with more than 200,000 MT-07s and 70,000 Ténérés sold since their launches in 2014 and 2019 respectively.
Both models enjoy numerous updates for 2025.
Of the two Yamaha models, the MT-07 has seen the biggest revamp for 2025, with a raft of upgrades to maintain the naked middleweight’s broad appeal.
The chassis is new and the wheels are lighter. The radial brakes are stronger, the electronics are more advanced and an AMT (semi-automatic) version is available.
The riding position has also been revised to suit a wider range of riders.
Changes to the Ténéré include ride-by-wire throttle, quickshifter, suspension refinements and a larger TFT screen with navigational functionality and bluetooth phone connectivity.
While revisions to the CP2 (cross-plane, two cylinder) engine used in both models are only minor, and make little difference to the output of the 698cc unit, the redesign extended to the engine covers.
This gave us the opportunity to create a new aesthetic to suit these updated Yamaha models and to employ elements of the R&D from working alongside the factory Yamaha teams in WorldSBK.
The result is a full protection package for the alternator, clutch, water pump and the vulnerable water pipes to fit both the standard and the AMT versions of the 2025 Yamaha MT-07 as well as the Ténéré 700 and 700 Rally. .
