Distinguished Gentlemen hit $1 million milestone for prostate cancer charities

Distinguished Gentlemen Hit Million Milestone For Prostate Cancer CharitiesGlobal phenomenon, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has broken the $1 million barrier in its fundraising efforts almost two weeks prior to the event taking place. The worldwide movement, which takes place on 27 September, will see over 30,000 motorcyclists from more than 400 cities worldwide don their finest attire and come together to raise funds for prostate cancer charities.

Founded in 2012 in Australia, the event has grown rapidly in popularity as it aims to shake off the sometimes negative reputation of biker meets, while raising money for an extremely important cause. The global event is sponsored by Triumph Motorcycles, Britain’s biggest manufacturer of large capacity motorbikes.

Rick Cawley, UK general manager at Triumph, said: “The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a fantastic opportunity for like-minded people to get together, put on their finest suits and ties, style their facial hair, enjoy biking and most importantly raise money in the fight against prostate cancer.

“This year’s event has the aim of raising $3 million, so it’s great to hear that we are already more than a third of the way towards reaching our target with well over a week still left to go. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the U, and kills one man every hour, that’s 10,500 every year. We are proud to be doing our bit to combat such a prolific killer of men in the UK.”

This year, 27 Triumph-affiliated dealerships are taking part in their local DGR rides; with participating dealers covering the Republic of Ireland, Wales and the length and breadth of England.

Cawely added: “With such a high number of our dealerships taking part in the event this year, we are urging as many people as possible to make contact and get involved. The ride-outs promise to be fantastic events for all involved. Any opportunity to get out on your bike, get dressed up and give a two-wheeled salute to cancer gets a huge thumbs up from us.”
