The RST Airbag Armour Shirt is a game-changer in the world of motorcycle safety gear.
Made from high-quality materials and incorporating state-of-the-art technology, this shirt aims to minimize the risk of serious injury in the event of a crash. Designed to be worn under a regular motorcycle jacket, the RST Airbag Armour Shirt features built-in airbag protection that deploys when it detects an impact.
With its sleek and minimalist design, the RST Airbag Armour Shirt is an attractive option for riders who prioritize both safety and style. It is available in various sizes and can be comfortably adjusted to fit different body types. The shirt is equipped with sensors that constantly monitor the rider’s movements and can detect rapid deceleration or sudden impact. This triggers the airbag to inflate within milliseconds, providing an additional layer of protection to vital organs and reducing the risk of fractures and other serious injuries.

To operate the airbag system in RST’s integrated airbag garments, riders need to register and request the In&box from In&motion.
This process is simple and can be done through an online registration. Once the In&box is obtained, riders can activate and use their RST airbag garments with confidence, knowing that they have access to the latest in airbag technology. Have to say considering that they are based in France the item arrived very quickly.
For more information on obtaining the In&box, please visit the In&motion website here.
On arrival of the brains you will need to set it up via an app on your phone. This is quite simple really, initially after some confusion with serial numbers the airbag system was ready to go. (Note when syncing dont use the serial number on the brains but use the serial number inside the RST Shirt).
The thing I like most about the RST armoured shirt is you don’t need to get rid of your favourite jacket.
Another thing to take note is if you are planning ton wearing a jacket that already has a back protector in, you need to remove it if you are planning to wear it with the airbag shirt. Obviously I can’t test the actually airbag and pray to god I don’t but I do feel somewhat more protected than before.
How does it work?
The integrated airbag technology developed by In&motion works on a simple yet effective principle. Just as armor is integrated into garments, the airbag system is seamlessly integrated into specific RST garments, such as the Airbag Armour Shirt. This means that riders no longer need to wear a separate airbag vest or jacket. The technology is designed to detect potentially dangerous situations and deploy the airbag system within milliseconds, providing instant protection to the rider.
The system utilizes three algorithms – street, track, and adventure – to cater to different riding scenarios. These algorithms, embedded in the electronic airbag detection system, analyze various parameters such as acceleration, deceleration, and tilt angles to determine the risk of a crash. Once a critical situation is detected, the airbag system is activated, ensuring maximum protection for the rider’s thorax, abdomen, spine, and collarbone.
One of the key advantages of RST’s integrated airbag range is its versatility. With just one box, riders can enjoy the benefits of airbag protection in multiple riding opportunities. Whether you’re riding on the street, exploring the track, or embarking on an adventure, the integrated airbag system has got you covered. Additionally, the wireless design eliminates the hassle of dealing with cables or sensors, providing a seamless and hassle-free experience.
There are other airbag systems on the market but RST were kind enough to let I try one out. With added security of an airbag i don’t think I would go back to a conventional bike jacket.
I picked the shirt because I have a couple of jackets I dont want to part with and a Kevlar shirt I want to still wear. There are however more integrated airbag options https://www.rst-moto.com/technologies/airbag
