Watsonian now offer a fitting kit to attach their British-built sidecars to the CCM Spitfire
Owners of CCM’s Spitfire range of bobbers can now enjoy a bit on the side, thanks to the new sidecar fitting kit from Watsonian.
Designed and developed specifically for the British-built bikes, the kit bolts onto four mounting points on the Spitfire’s steel tube frame. These are expertly positioned to allow optimum triangulation when attaching the arms linking the bike to the sidecar, to ensure everything stays firmly in place.
It also enables the fitters to set up the sidecar outfit with the recommended amount of axle lead. This is the distance the sidecar wheel spindle sits in front of the motorcycle’s rear wheel axle and it needs to be set correctly for predictable handling.
Manufactured by Watsonian in their Cotswold factory, the fitting kit sells for £1250- including VAT, and is suitable for their current range of sidecars using either a platform or perimeter frame chassis.
The Spitfire is shown here with a Watsonian Prescott sidecar (RRP £5,795-), which also has aeronautical links – the original version was made using surplus RAF drop tanks from Mosquito fighter-bombers!
