Litelok Core Moto Review by Jess @Beastbobber
The Litelok Core Moto is a must-have for any biker looking to secure their bike and have some peace of mind around reducing the potential risks of their bike being stolen. As we all know, motorcycle theft feels like it is at an all-time high and bikes are being stolen everywhere. As someone who has unfortunately been a victim of theft, I am really conscious and admittedly somewhat paranoid of leaving my bike anywhere.
The Litelok Core Moto is a lightweight but secure motorcycle lock. It has been designed with several layers of protection from the inner core outwards, using the company’s patented steel exoskeleton design, a tensile steel core, plant-based polymer and an aerospace-grade hardened steel inline lock body. It is wrapped in a washable neoprene cover, with colour pathways of blaze orange (seen pictured), lava red and crow black. With locks I prefer bright colours as it helps show that the bike has security, hopefully as a deterrent to potential thieves. I really liked the vibrancy of the orange cover. It is useful that the cover is washable, too, as someone who used this on my commute and in all weathers, I definitely do not clean my bike enough to avoid getting marks on the cover.
With a weight of 2.9kg and a locking length of 125cm, it is a perfect lock to use on the go. It is lightweight enough to be packed on the bike or in your backpack, but not so much that you feel it is detrimental to the security it provides. It feels solid and tough yet has a good amount of flex so you are able to thread it through chain fences, bollards, and other types of fixed structures. It also allows for bending into a smaller loop to pack down for when not in use. There is also a storage bag that comes with two Velcro adjustable straps to help secure it in the loop or to secure to the bike to travel with it.
The lock is independently accredited: Sold Secure Powered Cycle Gold and ART 3. In order to use the lock, you simply click it together and you only require the use of the key when you need to unlock it. They are also pairable to enable two LiteLok’s to be used in tandem for extra security or additional length. This makes the Litelok really user-friendly.
Overall, I found this lock great to use and is the first one I reach for whenever I head out on the bike and know that I am leaving it. I highly recommend the Litelok but as always with any security, I recommend using it alongside others – a disc lock, a cover, a tracker, I am of the mindset you can never be too overkill when it comes to security. Ultimately, the Litelok Core Moto is a must have to add to your collection.‘
