Last weekend, stunt rider Jonny Davies, AKA JD Stunts, wrote his name into the record books once more by breaking the Guinness World Record for the fastest “highchair” wheelie.
Using a modified Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R for the attempt, he clocked in at a stunning 127mph, breaking the existing record by over 2mph.
Having already broken several world records, including last year when he used a supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX to set a record-breaking 159.52mph record for skiing behind a bike, County Durham’s JD Stunts broke another last weekend, this time for the world’s fastest highchair wheelie. This stunt involves wheelieing a bike while placing both feet over the handlebars and sitting on the tank.
Taking place at Elvington Airfield in York, the initial attempt on Saturday was rained off, but with blue skies on Sunday, the record attempt was on. Strong crosswinds made the attempt even more challenging, but after several speed runs and high-speed practice wheelies to get a feel for the bike and the conditions, JD’s first run clocked in at an impressive 117mph.
However, with the existing record standing at 125mph, he knew he needed more on the second attempt and gritting his teeth, he managed an incredible 127mph to set a brand new Guinness World Record. JD completed the record on a specially modified Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, which had its fairing removed and featured a rear hand-operated brake, adjustable high-rise clip-ons, and an electronic, bar-mounted gear shifter, as well as a modified tank to provide better comfort and stability during the attempts.
Not resting on his laurels, JD is now turning his attention to another record, setting the fastest speed while riding facing backwards, which was set in 2002 and stands at 151.7mph. This attempt is scheduled to take place in 2026.
Jonny Davies:
“It’s amazing to have broken another record! The conditions were far from perfect, and the crosswind was particularly tough. However, I managed to reach over 170mph during my practice speed runs and 120mph with regular wheelies, so I knew it was possible, so I just gritted my teeth and gave it everything!
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R didn’t miss a beat and has been the perfect machine for the attempt – and I’m confident we’ll be celebrating again next year when we break the record for riding backwards.”
Ross Burridge, Head of Marketing & Racing Department at Kawasaki Motors UK:
“Once again, JD has impressed everyone. We thought skiing behind a bike was achievement enough, but to be travelling at 127mph while performing a highchair wheelie is incredible. Everyone at Kawasaki UK would like to congratulate Jonny, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store next!”
