The Triumph Thruxton RS was arguably one of the finest modern classic motorcycles of its generation — combining unmistakable British café racer styling with serious performance and premium components.
In this Triumph Thruxton RS Look Back, Modern Classic Motorcycle News revisits Triumph’s flagship café racer and explores what made it such a special motorcycle.
At its heart is Triumph’s 1,200cc parallel-twin engine, delivering the character, torque and soundtrack expected from a proper modern classic. But the Thruxton RS wasn’t simply about retro styling. Brembo M50 brakes, Showa Big Piston forks, Öhlins rear suspension and a focused riding position gave the RS genuine sporting ability.
The result was a motorcycle capable of looking perfectly at home outside a traditional British café while also being seriously entertaining on a twisting country road.
